All Black - Monolith
A sculptural exploration of the layered nature of compressed earth
Project Description
All Black is a sculptural study of the layered nature of compressed earth.
Formed through the rhythmic process of compacting different soil mixtures, the piece reveals the stratified character of the material—where each layer records subtle variations in color, texture, and composition. The resulting surface is both repetitive and unpredictable, echoing the geological formations shaped by natural processes over time.
Through its simple monolithic form, the sculpture allows the material itself to take the leading role. The visible layers become a record of the making process, transforming raw soil into a refined sculptural object.
With its restrained geometry and tactile surface, All Black reflects Mono Earth’s ongoing exploration of earth as both a construction material and an artistic medium.
