A sculptural entrance table that brings the layered texture and quiet presence of rammed earth into the interior.
Project Description
The Rammed Earth Table is a custom furniture piece developed for Habif Architects, exploring how compressed earth can be shaped into refined and functional interior objects.
The base of the table was formed using rammed earth compacted within a CNC-milled formwork, allowing the material to achieve a smooth, tapered geometry while maintaining its natural layered character. This technique enabled the creation of a slender and precise form that contrasts with the inherent mass of earth.
The tabletop is composed of a thin compressed earth layer, carefully crafted to reveal the natural stratification of the material. Together, the elements create a balanced composition where structure, texture, and proportion are brought into dialogue.
Placed at the entrance of the house, the table acts as a welcoming object—greeting visitors with the tactile presence and quiet warmth of earth. Its layered surface reflects the natural processes of the material while introducing a sculptural and contemporary interpretation of rammed earth in furniture design.
