Z House - Bathroom Counter

A rammed earth bathroom counter shaped in a continuous form, revealing the layered and unpredictable textures of compressed earth.

Project Description

The Rammed Earth Bathroom Counter explores how the layered character of earth can be integrated into intimate interior spaces.

Developed for the master suite bathroom of Z House, the counter was formed using 5 cm rammed earth panels, carefully shaped into a continuous U-form to conceal the infrastructure behind. This approach allowed the natural presence of earth to become the defining element of the space while maintaining a clean and refined geometry.

One of the most compelling qualities of rammed earth lies in its repetitive yet unpredictable layers. Each compressed layer records subtle variations in soil composition, creating a surface that is both structured and organic.

Within the calm atmosphere of the bathroom, the counter introduces the geological memory of earth into a daily ritual space. Its layered texture becomes a tactile and visual focal point, demonstrating how traditional rammed earth techniques can be adapted to contemporary interior design.
