Mono Earth Rammed Earth Summer School

-ENGLISH BELOW- Uzun bir aradan sonra Mono Earth yeniden öğrencilerle buluşuyor.

Yıllardır sürdürdüğümüz araştırma, tasarım ve üretim pratiğini paylaşmak; toprağın potansiyelini birlikte keşfetmek için bu yıl da Kapadokya’da Lisans, Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora öğrencileri ile bir araya geliyoruz. Üç gün boyunca sürecek olan Rammed Earth Summer School’da farklı disiplinlerden 20 katılımcıyı ağırlayacağız. Birlikte üreteceğimiz, toprağın limitleri ve potansiyeli üzerine sesli düşüneceğimiz ve en önemlisi süreci eğlenerek 1:1 ölçekte ellerimizle hayata geçireceğimiz şahane bir hafta sonuna davetlisiniz.

Sıkıştırılmış toprak yapım tekniklerinin bütün detaylarının anlatılacağı atölyede toprak yapım pratikleri ve malzeme etkin tasarım detayları hakkında bilgiler verilecektir. Katılımcılar ile zenginleşecek atölyede Derun House bahçesinde sıkıştırılmış toprak yapım tekniği ile baştan sona bir karşılama ünitesi yapılması planlanmaktadır. Bir yandan ellerimizle bölge toprağına şekil verirken bir yandan da Kapadokya vadilerinin tadını çıkaracağız.

Can CUMALI ve Çağlar İŞBİLİR yürütücülüğünde gerçekleşecek olan atölyede 10 - 13 Temmuz 2024 tarihleri arasında Avanos / Nevşehir 'de gerçekleşecektir.

-EN- After a long break, Mono Earth is once again bringing students together.

To share the research, design, and making practices we have been developing for years, and to collectively explore the potential of earth as a building material, we are gathering this year in Cappadocia with undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. During the three-day Rammed Earth Summer School, we will host 20 participants from various disciplines. We invite you to an inspiring weekend where we will build together, openly discuss the limits and possibilities of earth, and most importantly, bring ideas to life at a 1:1 scale through hands-on making.

Throughout the workshop, participants will be introduced to the complete process of rammed earth construction, including practical techniques, material behavior, and design considerations for earth-based architecture. Enriched by the contributions of participants from diverse backgrounds, the workshop aims to design and construct a rammed earth welcome structure in the garden of Derun House from start to finish. While shaping the local soil with our own hands, we will also enjoy the unique landscape and valleys of Cappadocia.

The workshop will be led by Can Cumalı and Çağlar İşbilir and will take place in Avanos, Nevşehir, between 10–13 July 2026.
