"in", the central installation of “Yerebasan / Grounded,” the Türkiye Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, is now on view at the Arsenale in Venice. Curated by Ceren Erdem and Bilge Kalfa, the installation’s material development and on-site application were undertaken by Mono Earth.

Conceived as an immersive environment that engages the senses, "in" invites visitors to encounter earth beyond its visual presence—through its texture, scent, sound, and vibrations. Using soils sourced from Cappadocia, Mono Earth developed the earthen material and application techniques that form the installation’s surface. Enveloping a wooden and textile structure, this layer of earth creates a tactile and atmospheric interface between the visitor, the material, and the space.

The installation followed an extensive process of material research, recipe development, testing, and prototyping in Cappadocia. Following this period of experimentation, Mono Earth carried out the earthen application on site in Venice, translating the material research into the final spatial experience at the Arsenale.

The sensory dimension of "in" is further extended through a sound work by Michael Akstaller, created from recordings captured within different layers of soil. Together, material, sound, scent, and vibration transform the installation into an environment in which earth is not simply observed, but physically and sensorially experienced.

Visitors can experience "in" at the Türkiye Pavilion in the Arsenale, Venice, from November 3 through November 23, 2025.
